I only say it's coming soon, because that's what it says on the sign. I couldn't find any reason not to believe it, other than my own silly ideas about why these boxes continue to spring up in the night like mushrooms.Less than a mile away in either direction, there's not one, but two CVS stores. But I guess that since they're building this Walgreen's just about halfway between the two CVS's, that the market geniuses at the home office figured there was some kind of "drug vacuum" in that particular space that they could take advantage of.
I'll never understand these marketing strategies, I guess...
That's probably why I said to myself, "...I don't believe it," when I first saw the sign draped on the fence in front of the construction site. I mean, this whole country is, basically, supporting the international drug trade, both legal and illegal. So, I suppose it makes sense to THOSE GUYS who make billions each year feeding America's drug habits to ensure that there's a drugstore on every corner (and a dealer in between)... It begs the question, "Isn't this market saturated yet?"
A couple months ago, the construction guys were on strike and picketing in front of this construction site. I meant to stop and ask them what the story was, but it didn't last long enough for me to get a chance.Any month, now, they'll wrap things up and pave the lot, paint the parking stripes, hire the minimum wage employees, and put up an "open" sign. Before you know it, this new box will look like it's always been there. (Maybe by then the owners of the brand new empty building across the street will have a tenant.)
