I'm sure there's a window at WICN that will afford this type of a view, although I took this shot in front of the tire store on Portland Street, a few doors up.Anyone living at 50 Franklin with a room in the back of the building probably has the best view of this construction project.
Aside from closing off a half an inch of Southbridge Street, there's not much disruption of traffic from this project... although I'm sure that any of the businesses and offices on that short section of the street will be more than willing to describe what a pain in the neck it's been for a VERY long time.
This shot's from Federal Street, which is one of the funniest streets in the downtown area.Federal Street is about the same length as the tiny section of Southbridge Street that's closed because of the construction, and yet half of it is two way traffic and half of it is one way traffic from Main Street.
I've never been able to figure that one out.
It's been a long time since I've engaged in any significant activity in the Federal Square area, aside from getting State Income Tax forms at the office they have in the building next to the theater.
If memory serves me well, the "long time" goes all the way back to the days when Jimmy Soffan had Pickwick's Restaurant next to the theater, and Linda Benton was managing.
That was before the tower at 600 Main was anything more than a gleam in Jimmy Soffan's eye.
