NY Cabbies - Top Ten Demands

Background: The NY licensing guys want all cabs in New York to have GPS units for tracking the locations of cabs. NY Cabbies went on strike this week over it.

Meanwhile, here in Worcester, Yellow Cab has had a computer-dispatch system in operation for quite some time. The system incorporates GPS in each cab, so the office can find out where any cab is at any time. Interestingly enough, there was a minor exodus of cab drivers between Yellow and Red over this development. Some went from Yellow to Red because they hated working with this computer-dispatch system, while some went from Red to Yellow for the opposite reason.

Personally, I think it's great. But that's probably because I'm a slightly dorky nerd.
