Haller Spotting

I spotted Barbara Haller campaigning this morning on the corner of Main and Madison.

When I took the picture, I felt like a goofy "fan" walking up to a celebrity.

This is the first time I've ever met the incumbent district four City Councilor, and although I live in another voting district, I've always been especially attentive to the voices that speak from, and for, the main south district.

Many people in this city may not "get it", but main south is the most vibrant area of the city. It's also the most erroneously maligned area of the city. Anybody working to improve conditions for the people who live in that area will pretty much get a free pass from me. And, of course, the fact that Barbara's also an electrical engineer pretty much seals her fate in my eyes as being someone I can identify with.

Having no idea how the race between Barbara Haller and Lynn Simonds might be going, and because I don't live in that voter district, I haven't been paying much attention to it. All I can realistically say about it is that the district four race, in my opinion, may be the one to watch.
