They were backed up over a half mile, waiting to get onto the Turnpike.Unless there was an accident to account for the backup, I have to say that I wasn't aware of this particular holiday weekend being such a popular one for "early starts". But the backup phenomenon at that spot on Friday afternoons seems to have been getting somewhat common. They're usually later in the day, though. It's holiday weekends that it starts piling up this early.
Monday is Columbus Day, and it's the day of the annual PARADE over on Shrewsbury Street.
