Dianne Williamson's column today is an especially thought provoking one.
We are either a nation of vengeance seekers or a nation pursuing a course based upon the precept that science has come forward far enough to rehabilitate criminals.
Personally, I don't believe there is a system in place that might have rehabilitated Edgar Bowser. I believe that he may be an exception to the norm... the norm being that our prison system ends up training inmates to be more effective criminals. I believe that you can put an innocent person into this system for a decade or two, and produce a new criminal. I have no slightest hint of faith that the system rehabilitates anybody.
The case of Edgar Bowser, and especially Dianne's treatment of this subject, certainly does give one pause for thought on all of this, though, doesn't it?
