Reunion Barbecue

Yesterday wasn't a great day for outdoor activities, but my high school 40th reunion included this barbecue at the Grafton Legion, so I went...

(For the women, I'll use their maiden names, because I don't remember their married names... and I might even spell everybody's names wrong, anyway.)

Rich Mongeau holds up the plastic fork he broke when aggressively attacking a thick, juicy steak, as Joyce Kazarian looks on.

The uncanny configuration of tines left on the fork resembled a hand flipping the bird, which is exactly what the fork probably would've wanted to say to Rich.

"Hey Rich," I said when I saw this, "I think you've been working out too much."

Apparently, those steaks might have been a little tougher than they looked. I didn't have one, so I don't know. But they did look very tempting.

I snapped this picture of Russ Clark while we were talking about taking pictures.

He brought a nice digital camera to the barbecue and took a lot of pictures. He also took a lot of pictures the night before at the Grafton Inn.

He'd take a picture, then tell the person that it'd be all over the internet from Tierra Del Fuego to Minsk by morning.

I'm still searching for them, though.

I even gave him a piece of paper with the URL for this blog, so he could hook up and send me some of those pictures. Maybe he lost the piece of paper... but I'd guess that he took so many pictures that it'll be impossible to go through them all and pick out the good ones for at least a month.

From right to left: Steve Goselin, Linda Wilson, and Donna LeBoeuf.

It was really great to see all these people who I hadn't seen or had any contact with for so many years. There were a lot of anecdotes and stories told from those days we spent in high school together.

If you have a high school reunion coming up, I'd recommend you go, even if the prospect of going is the last thing you might ever want to do at this stage of your life. It's definitely worth it.
