On my way home this afternoon, I snapped another shot of the ongoing work of Bump Installation Crew number 8. They're more than halfway from where they started (at Grafton and Franklin), and gaining now on Washington Square. This is more like a career for them, now.
There's also plenty of work being done all around Washington Square, as the city prepares to sell all that hot real estate they created by shrinking the rotary. We should all keep in mind that everything that's been (and is still being) expended on all of that work on the rotary was so the city can collect more revenue from the freed up real estate...
Is it just me?...
This is a shot of the ongoing work of Bump Installation Crew number 10 in the middle of the intersection of Southbridge Street and Quinsigamond Avenue, right after lunchtime. They had a steel plate on it yesterday, and it made for a real whopper of a bump. But today the hole was open again and they were pushing forward with whatevertheheck it is they're doing down there.
I was chatting with a passenger this morning about how bumpy the streets are in Worcester. He had a coffee mug... (y'know, the kind with the training cup lid?) and he was holding it in the we're going over bumpy roads position, up and away from possibly spilling on his clothes. When I blandly told him that the city has an annual program to install new bumps every year, just so that Worcester can hold onto its title as having the bumpiest roads in the whole physical universe... well, once he stopped laughing he said that it was a good thing I didn't spring that line on him while he was taking a sip of his coffee.
