Digital Television

Not that it isn't confusing enough for people, the conversion to digital television isn't made any clearer with articles like this. The information in the article only seems concerned with the usual fearmongering (hence the article's headline).

If you have cable, ignore that article. If you use an antenna, and you own a regular old TV set, then you can get a $40 coupon towards the purchase of a box that will convert all the digital TV signals (which are already being broadcast) for your TV. Next February, all the TV stations are supposedly going to shut down their current analog channels. Channels 2 through 12 won't be transmitted any more after that. Everything will be moved to the UHF channels.

As many people don't realize, however, they're already using those new channels so if you want to see how the reception is, then you have to either buy a new digital TV, or get the box that will convert the signals to the old TV, and just hook up to a UHF antenna.
