Left Turn Monkeys

The light turns green, but the guy in front of you doesn't go...

I usually wait a second or two before giving them a little wakeup beep, because you never know if they're waiting for a pedestrian you can't see, or maybe an emergency vehicle you can't hear, etc...

But when they're waiting for oncoming traffic in order to make a left turn, and they never hit their turn signal, and they're not pulled over to the center far enough for you to get by, THEN it becomes a matter of high aggravation.

These are Left Turn Monkeys.

One of their favorite spots to congregate is right there, inbound at Winthrop and Providence.

Ever since they opened up access to Route 146 at the bottom of Providence Street, the Left Turn Monkeys have been backing up traffic past the beginning of Granite Street every day. In this particular instance, around 1 o'clock this afternoon, I had been waiting in line with less than a dozen cars in front of me through THREE changes of the light for these knuckleheads. Then, just when I thought I'd be getting through the fourth green light... another one stops the show!
