When those without rights are struggling to gain them, it falls upon people like me who DO have those rights to speak in their defense. I would, however, recuse myself from opining about life situations I would never find myself in... discussions and decisions about the abortion issue, for instance, which I feel no man has a right to take part in.
The issue of same sex marriage is one that has been addressed in California this week, and I find myself feeling glad that another part of the American population will be given a chance to enjoy something that I take for granted: being married to the person that I love.
