Fake Drug Bust

It's only when you get all the way down to the next to the last sentence in this article, that you find out that the guy they're talking about (Mr. Efrain Matias) owns this store, Jimmy C's, at 1086 Main Street.

When I went over there today to take the picture, I saw that Jimmy C's wasn't open...

Well, I suppose if the owner's in jail, it would be difficult to open the store.

What I don't get, though, is the story in the T&G... I mean, it's so full of holes and missing information that I was ready to write a voluminous post about it before I even got past the fourth sentence. (The fourth sentence is where they toss in that he was charged with something eight years ago, but the article never bothers to explain what those charges resulted in.)

And what, exactly, is the Drug Enforcement Administration’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force? And if this guy is a big time drug dealer, then why didn't they spend all those months "investigating" him until he sold some real drugs? I mean, what the heck is this baloney with spending months "negotiating" with him, in order to try to sell him fake drugs? Is he a drug dealer or isn't he?

I don't know who this Matias guy is, but it's abundantly clear that the T&G didn't get the story. The article evokes so many unanswered questions that it's clear they didn't even try to get the story.

Update: WoMag dug up some of the story.

That's about a five minute walk from my house on a slow day. I'd never noticed any particular problems around there.
