Yesterday's Storms

The picture in the paper that accompanies this article was taken right around the corner from where I live. Yesterday between 1pm and 3pm was certainly one hellacious downpour!

We are lucky here, since we're planted on a hill. The water rushes by from Crow Hill runoff, but things are graded just right to prevent it from turning my basement into a swimming pool.

But...

I have neglected to clean out the rain gutters this year. So, during that two hours of downpour after downpour, I had to babysit one window underneath the low end of that gutter as a waterfall cascaded off the roof and splashed against that storm window and slowly leaked into the sill.

We also got a trickle into the cellar from where we had a brick walkway put in recently, where it changed the grading slightly.

But only a block away, Hamilton Street was flooded and it was so deep across the way on Stanton that the T&G story describes a guy who went swimming in it!

Update: It looks like the WoMag building got hit by lightning in that storm.

Update2: Video from NECN
