The Posse Comitatus Act, just like Habeas Corpus, involves too much latin for the mainstream media to be interested in. Besides, the suspension or removal of the foundations of freedom can only be done by boiling the frog, and the newspaper business (especially here in Worcester) has already been thoroughly boiled in its own right.
You won't see anything about the historic violation of this fundamental protection, The Posse Comitatus Act, in any of the papers or on the TV news. Instead, you'll only see things like an impassioned plea to not suspend standardized testing for standardized children, written by standardized journalists.
The sad fact is that with the October 1st deployment of the first permanent army brigade on American soil and the imminent nationalization of the markets, we have now been successfully boiled.
But don't worry. You didn't feel a thing, ...did you? And besides, as long as you can still go have a beer every friday after work, what's the difference?

Thanks, Jeff. You made my morning. I was feeling as though I was the only one slugging back at the T&G on the MCAS, and they won't print another letter from me until next Tuesday (60 days).
THEY DON'T GET IT!
...brings to mind one of my favorite quotes:
"If you're well-adjusted these days, then you're just not paying attention."
-Dave Maynard (WBZ Radio)
I remain amazed and disheartened that so little attention is paid to President George W. Bush's relentless use of "signing statements".
Thanks for bringing the Greenwald piece to our attention.
