I got to the stART stREET (park ave) around 11 am, and immediately saw that there were a lot of boxes. The idea was that anyone could come along and arrange a bunch of boxes in any way that might strike their artistic fancy.
Pronouncing "art" as "ought" can pretty much evoke the ultimate imagery for me.
I like artly things, arterific assemblages, artsy inspirations, and generally identify with the insane stimulus of the muses. ...or, at least the one that kicks you in the teeth at the worst possible moments (like when you're trying to sleep).
But I can't say that I associate crafts with art as much as I used to. Instead, I associate crafts with the supernatural, ...and also with the repeatability of experiments.
I was standing in front of the WCUW booth for a few minutes with these guys, ...and it suddenly felt like some kind of reunion. So I took a picture.I spent two hours on my feet, and most of it out in the sun. Not a good idea for an old white man who's prone to sunburn, eh?
It was a lot of fun, though, because no matter where I mosey'd over to, there would be somebody else to do a stop and chat with.
I even did a stop and chat with Jacob after his incredible one-man show, just to let him know that I got some of it on video...
You can watch this two minute clip here:
Or you can go over to YouTube and watch it, since there's now the "watch it in high quality" option button underneath the other buttons.
All things considered, this was definitely the place to be today!
