If there's any evidence of how out of touch and how out of control John McCain really is, it's been the last week or two of increasingly inflammatory rhetoric being applied in negative attacks his campaign has been engaged in. It's actually freaked him out to the point where he was willing to be boo'd by a crowd of thoroughly propagandized adherents, just because he said something nice about Barack Obama...
If anyone thinks these attacks, especially those still being uttered by Palin, aren't designed to appeal to and inflame stupid white racists against Barack Obama, then maybe this video clip will open your eyes.
When I first saw it, I thought that the South Park version of the History of America was a long ways over the top, but after the last two weeks it does appear to be a lot more accurate than even I would have wanted to admit.
Just like the Bush administration, the McCain campaign is overrun with holy roller idiots, radical right-wing bigots, and nutjobs willing to say or do anything to remain in power in Washington for another four years. And their passionate appeals to white racists in America over the last couple of weeks has, apparently, even taken John McCain by surprise.
How can he possibly govern the whole country, when he can't even control his own campaign?

What is interesting about all of this is the undercurrent of racism that seems to support it.
The "Bradely Effect" may still be a factor - or - there may be a counter factor of many new voters who are eager for us to turn the page into the 21st century.
As I talk with people from around the world, there is wonder and astonishment at the prospect of a black president. Wonder in the sense of further proof of their image of America. Astonishment that it may actually happen, and what it really means.
I was around in the 1950s and 60s, when this seemed impossible.
This man brought a stuffed monkey doll wearing an Obama sticker to a Palin campaign event in Johnstown, Ohio. When he realized he was caught on camera, he passed it off to a child he didn't know. Watch his eyes and you'll see the moment when he sees he's been caught. This is creepy video.
