Charter Cable Increase

I got the notice in the mail a few days ago. My Charter cable TV service is going to cost me 19% more every month, as of January first.

How convenient that the City Dictator managed to allow this kind of thievery when he negotiated the new contract over the last year. Thank you so much for all your hard work, Mr. City Dictator. It's nice to know that you got what YOU wanted on the backs of all the subscribers who, unbeknownst to them, were going to get porked like this after the negotiations had been concluded, and the contract with the city for the next five years was a done deal.

But I guess that's what you mean whenever you say, "Doing what's best for the city." It's now clear that whenever you say "the city" you're not referring to the people who actually pay the bills.

What really blows is when you live in a building that will not allow Direct TV or Dish Network to put a dish on the building so you really are completely stuck with Charter.

Real nice.

CAN YOU SAY MONOPOLY!! Sure I can stick a dish/satellite or whatever on my house as an option, but Charter owns the cable market.

I remember when I was a kid and our only option for phone service was Ma Bell. We had to rent our ugly sky blue phone from them. Couldn't go to Walmart and buy a phone & plug it in.

I believe a little thing called deregulation happened.

From what I understand cable "competition" is based on area population. Maybe if Charter didn't suck people would use another cable provider instead of turning to Direct TV & Dish.

At the end of the day (or each month) I realize as much as I bitch Charter still wins.
