The New Kitty

After waking me up at least four times last night, our new kitty is completely exhausted.

This guy is only 9 months old, and yet he's twice the size of our former ruler. He's got beautiful blue eyes, but they've been very difficult to capture in a photo so far. Half siamese and half ragdoll, I think his disposition is mostly ragdoll. He likes to be held. He'll pretty much drop whatever he's doing to flop down in the most unlikely positions and snuggle up against me and purr.

He's got to be the most lovey-dovey cat I've ever come in contact with.

I may have to shut the bedroom door at night to keep him out, though, if the last two nights are any indication of where this is headed. Last night I woke up one time with most of his soft, furry bulk on my head while he licked my eyelids. Another time I woke up and he was rubbing my face, cheek to cheek.

And he's got an "instant on" purr. No matter what he might be doing, if I pick him up, the purr is instant, like flipping a switch. And it's a very loud purr. Last night, another wake-up call was that loud purring, from the foot of the bed.

They don't call this breed "ragdoll" for nothing.

I can't count the number of times this cat has made me burst out laughing at his absurd antics and the positions he manages to flop himself down into. It's just like randomly tossing a ragdoll, the way this guy will just flop down without any prior indication that he might be looking for a spot to settle.

It took us a long while to get over the loss of our previous kitty, and finally arrive at a point where we felt we could look for a new one. But this little fur-ball has made the decision a lot easier.
