T&G's New Online Look

I was pleasantly surprised this morning to see the T&G's online site has been changed.

The first thing I noticed was how fast it loaded.

Yikes!

Blazingly fast!

Before this morning, I could click on my T&G link, then go out and brew a pot of coffee, take a shower, get ready for work, and then come back to the computer just in time to see the last widgets and other pieces finally coming up on the screen. So, this morning you have to color me very surprised.

Of course, I still get a header in Firefox that says "Firefox prevented this page from automatically reloading" because I sometimes like to see what's there before it vanishes forever... as certain things sometimes seem to do on that site.

Another really impressive feature is that pictures for articles are no longer sequestered over in the narrow right-hand column. They're nice and big, sitting on top. This is a huge improvement to the look and feel of each article.

I still have this morning's whole issue to peruse, but I gotta say this is a really nice improvement to the online site.

Update: ...Heh. Now the T&G website is not coming up at all right now (10 am).

Update2: ...more Heh. It's back up now (2:20 pm), but quite sluggish.

Update3: ...less Heh, more Yeah: back to blazingly fast at 3 pm.

Agreed, Jeff. The site works well.
A few minor quibbles - it would be great if there were timestamps on the story headlines. On the local news page, there are stories from yesterday and today, but you can't tell without opening the story.
It would be great to have RSS feeds for the local bloggers on the site.
These are small issues in an otherwise excellent refresh of the site. Good job, T&G, particularly Mark Henderson and the online team.
