An interesting article in WoMag today on the people moving business here in Worcester. There's also a slideshow with audio of taxi and livery drivers' comments. The funniest part of the story, for me anyway, was where they stationed a couple of reporters at the Honey Farms at Lincoln and Catharine, and called for a cab and a livery to take them back to WoMag headquarters at Water and Harrison. The fact that a livery car actually responded and drove one of them back, according to the report, is a demonstration of the livery violating the city ordinance, as well as committing insurance fraud by doing business as a taxi while only paying insurance for a livery.

But of course it's politically-incorrect to ask the liveries to follow rules.
And even though I drive a taxi in and out of Great Brook Valley, Plumley Village, Lakeside, etc. every day, several times a day, we should just believe the liveries when they say that they exist to serve ann under-serviced Latino community (meaning they think Red & Yellow don't go to "bad" neighborhoods).
The illegal cabs should be either made to follow the rules set up for them or be made totally illegal.
