The anonymous pontificator(s) at the T&G have outdone themselves!
Today, they make the mistake of attempting to address two unrelated issues with one short essay. They also appear to be confused about the difference between creating propaganda, and falling victim to it themselves.
In the first part of their piece, they attempt to argue IN FAVOR of marijuana prohibition from the unrelated angle of whether marijuana is "good" or "bad" for you. People continue to fall victim to this long standing anti-decriminalization device of completely changing the subject, and the anonymous pontificators are no exception.
Many highly respected conservatives, not the least of whom was William F. Buckley, Jr, along with a who's who of highly regarded figures from every other slice of the political spectrum, have (for decades) clearly distinguished between the subject of criminalizing those who self-medicate or use drugs for recreational purposes, and the subject of whether any particular substance is "good" or "bad" for you.
The anonymous pontificator(s) at the T&G use the argument AGAINST prohibition, oddly enough, in the second part of their piece dealing with tobacco use in the military.
Heh... the title of the piece, of course, is very appropriate. It's not "smoke" that ties this piece together, it's mental fog.
