Here's a picture I took of the tennis court, back when the neighborhood hysterical society first wanted to restrict it as "historic", the first time around. It's basically a mosquito breeding ground, and of absolutely no "historic" significance at all.
But last night, apparently, Adi Tibrewal and his wife, Elizabeth Todd, went to the City Council meeting to express their frustration and outrage over the possibility(?), or maybe the actual done deal(?) of having this piece of their property being tagged "historic" and restricted like this... Or did they?
Why were they there?
No news, as they say, is supposed to be good news. But finding out that this couple, the young couple who purchased the Montvale Street property that includes the tennis court, were at the City Council meeting last night... well, this is merely a fluke, over here where I'm sitting. I've found my interest level in the liveblog to have been vastly reduced since Scott Zoback left...
Let me just back up a little bit to explain, though... The local media "coverage" of this was last reported in Dianne Williamson's column on October 25th. I did a T&G search for "montvale" and another one for "Tibrewal" just now, but Dianne's column in October was the last coverage on any of this in the local daily paper. The WoMag City Council liveblog, meanwhile, "covered" this latest development at the 7:29, 7:30, and 7:33 marks, but it's merely noted... it isn't connected to anything because, apparently, their anonymous liveblogger has no idea what it might have been about.
The liveblog starts out thus, "It’s crowded and busy out in the hallway, and there’s a good-sized crowd in the seats," but never comments about why. Meanwhile, back over at the T&G site, the only thing even remotely connected to last night's "good-sized crowd" might've been what Nick Kotsopoulos wrote about...
But this morning, I sit here wondering what the hell happened last night.
Honestly, I have to ask: Are there ANY real journalists left in this town? I mean, there's obviously an awful lot of people employed by WoMag and the T&G who are being paid full time pay, and who seem to think that they're journalists... But this morning, none of them have covered what I consider to be one of the more corrupt and scandalous stories in town.
Update(5pm): Some additional info on the Tuesday appearance of the tennis court owners has been posted at Worcesteria. Thanks guys!
