Chandler and Mayfield

I took this picture yesterday, but ended up doing nothing with it...

The parcel of land that the backhoe was sitting on yesterday is on Chandler Street, across from Foley Stadium, and next to the Walgreens. There used to be two streets on either side of this parcel: Mayfield Street used to begin at Chandler on one side of this parcel, and Abbott Street used to continue on to Winfield (which has also been closed down on that section).

SFD posted a comment to Bill's post that the parcel belongs to "the Kroc family trust", but I looked up 266 Chandler on the city's property values records database and the real estate tax/CML records database, and it shows the "developable land" as belonging to "Sydney Feingold +".

Maybe it was sold recently.

I remember a lawsuit and lengthy newspaper article about the results a few years back.

The last time this property was used, it hosted the carnival for a few weeks.

Another one I've always thought would make a nice community garden.

That whole complex from the Chandler Street property down Mayfield Street and up to Park Avenue next to State Liquors has some pretty interesting vegetation during the summer. It also houses a good portion of Worcester's homeless community.
