So far this morning I see seven video entries to the Colleges of Worcester Consortium's contest (they're the ones listed under "favorites").
Here's the list as of this morning:
There are three newly posted video clips that aren't included in the Consortium's list (yet) that are also probably intended to be entrants...
Here's that list:
The contest was announced in November and runs between February 1st and the 15th... the two week window wherein entrants can post their submissions on YouTube.
Personally, I think the Worcester City Council should consider running their own contest alongside the Consortium's and pick one or more of these student film-makers for the next funding cycle in "promoting the city". Frankly, the contest itself is probably doing more to promote the city online than anything the city has ever done to promote itself online over the past... well, ever since the world wide web started.
These videos should be required viewing for every elected and appointed city official, anyway, since it's the most concise medium for conveying what this city looks like from outside their government box. Every student's submission in this contest says something about Worcester from their unique point of view as an individual, and as a student coming to Worcester... it's the most concise feedback our decision-makers could ever possibly get from "the colleges".
The two week entry window for the contest has only just begun, so I'll be updating this again...
